Some days you just lack that little bit of extra motivation to get round to doing some of all the things you actually want to do. It could be household chores, small work tasks, creative projects or a bit of self-care that keeps getting postponed. This is where task bingo can be a fun and effective tool.
What is task bingo?
It works exactly like regular bingo, but instead of numbers, you write tasks in the squares. Once you have completed a task, you cross off the square or colour it in with a marker. You can choose to play for a row, column, diagonal or go for a full house.
How to make your own task bingo
Draw a 3×3 or 5×5 grid in your journal. Write one task in each square. These can be practical things, creative or self-care.

You decide for yourself whether you want to reward yourself (and whether it should be for a row or a full house). Some people use stickers or stamps to mark completed tasks. You can also colour the square with a light marker.
Why does it work?
Task bingo removes some of the pressure and adds a playful element. When you can choose between several small tasks, it doesn't feel so heavy to get started. And it's just more satisfying to tick off a bingo card than to look at a long list.
So next time motivation is low, try making a quick bingo card in your journal. It only takes a few minutes, and it can make a huge difference to your energy and your mood.
