Journal prompts for heatwave days

When the temperature creeps up and your brain feels like melted ice cream, it can be hard to find energy and focus. But journaling doesn't have to be demanding. On the contrary, it can be a calm and refreshing way to check in with yourself, even when the sun is blazing outside. Here are a number of simple journal prompts you can use on even the hottest days.

Use them as you wish

You can write them in a notebook, on loose sheets of paper, or just think about them while having a cold drink. Answer in a few words or fill a whole page. It is entirely up to you how much time you want to spend on it.

Prompts for hot days:

  1. What do I feel like right now?

  2. What feels like too much today?

  3. Describe the perfect shady spot

  4. What cools me down – physically and mentally?

  5. What sounds do I hear when I sit still?

  6. What do I need today – and what can wait?

  7. What would I like to let go of today?

  8. When did I last feel completely relaxed?

  9. What is my favourite summer memory?

  10. Which little moment today is worth remembering?

Give yourself permission to write without a goal

On hot days it is important not to make demands. There is no right or wrong answer, and you do not need to be productive. Use your journal as a place where you are allowed to be slow, messy, concise or dreamy. Everything is allowed. Especially when the sun is shining.
